Arizona Splendor

Woods Canyon Lake

Woods Canyon Lake is a beautiful pristine lake, situated high in the mountains along the Mogollon Rim, Sitgreaves National Forest, in the Apache Indian Reservation Lands. One can have lunch with variety of elk, bear, chipmunks and birds. Visitors should practice good manners, and not disturb the wildlife as they go about their ways. Marshmallows are not good for bears!

And as always, if you pack it in... pack it out!!

Ancient Petrogylphs by the Anasazi Indians

The word Anasazi means "ancient". Deciphering petroglyphs takes an expert, however, the border type design across the upper portion of the rock, most likely signifies mountains. This rock may log the movement of the people from one point to another.

Anasazi Tribal writings

Saguaro blossoms smell heavenly. There are various colors for the blossoms, from the creamy white shown here, to a vivid red.

Lightening struck this stately saguaro, leaving it with it's ribs exposed. Indian cultures used the ribs of the saguaro, as well as the limbs of the ocotillio for building their housing. Saguaro blossoms turn to fruit, and the fruit can be used in a number of ways..from syrup to candy..cactus fruit is delicious.

This is a modern day wagon train...hardships are great.

When supplies are low, squabbles over that last cup of coffee will ensue.

Thankfully, some brave fisherman will provide our dinner.
